What Makes Antarctica Unforgettable
Zodiac Landings
Twice-daily shore excursions by inflatable Zodiac craft put you on the ice — face-to-face with wildlife and glacial landscapes most people will only ever see in photographs.
Intimate Ships
Expedition vessels carrying fewer than 200 guests mean exclusive landing sites, personalized attention, and a community of like-minded travelers who quickly become friends.
Expert Naturalists
Onboard scientists, historians, and wildlife experts lead every excursion and evening lecture. Yes — a penguinologist is a real career, and you may have one on your ship.
Penguin Colonies
Encounter Gentoo, Chinstrap, and Adélie penguins in their natural habitat — up close, on their terms, in numbers that will stop you in your tracks.
Glacial Scenery
Sail through the Lemaire Channel and Paradise Bay aboard purpose-built expedition ships, surrounded by icebergs the size of city blocks.
Plan It Right
Antarctica rewards those who plan carefully. The right ship, the right operator, and the right time of season make all the difference — and Jennifer has the expertise to get every detail right.
Extend Your Journey
Add South Georgia Island and the Falklands for one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences on the planet. Fly-the-Drake options are available to skip the passage entirely.
Gear Taken Care Of
Your expedition jacket is yours to keep. Muck boots and trekking poles are provided for every landing. Arrive ready — everything you need is already on board.
Travel Protection
Many Antarctica expeditions require travel protection insurance — so you can travel with complete peace of mind. Jennifer will walk you through the right coverage for your journey.

When Should You Go?
Antarctica expeditions are intimate by design — you will share this once-in-a-lifetime experience with just 175 friends on a small ship, not thousands of strangers on a mega-vessel. These expeditions are educational, immersive, and genuinely transformative. My honest advice? Do the furthest, hardest trips while you can. Hips and knees don't get younger — and there is simply nothing else like standing in a penguin colony, watching a humpback breach ten feet from your Zodiac, or hearing the thunderous crack of a calving glacier. The smells, the sounds, the cold air on your face — you are right there in the experience. I've booked guests ranging from age 5 to 92 on expedition sailings. Whatever your age, the time is now.
Early Season
November – December
Pristine & Untouched
🐧 ❄️
This is Antarctica at its most pristine. The snow conditions are unlike anything I can describe — vast rolling hills blanketed in white, looking exactly like the images you've pictured your whole life. It is a sight that genuinely takes your breath away.
This is also nesting season. Seals, penguins, and birds are in the midst of their spring mating rituals — there is an energy and sense of discovery in the air that is impossible to replicate at any other time of year. You'll witness the first penguin chicks hatching, and the light for photography is extraordinary — long golden hours that make every shot stunning.
Optional activities like snowshoeing through untouched terrain are at their best now. If you have dreamed of seeing Antarctica looking like a postcard — this is your season.
Best for: photographers, first-timers, snowshoeing, nesting wildlife
Peak Season
Late December – January
The Most Active & Alive
🐧 😊
Peak season is peak everything. Temperatures reach their highest — roughly 28–40°F — and days stretch up to 20 hours of sunlight. The warmer weather begins to pull back the snow, revealing rocky cliffs and a more varied, dramatic landscape as the white gives way to stark black and grey.
The penguin chicks are now growing fast, and one of the most magical sights in nature becomes possible: penguin "highways" — well-worn paths through the snow where hundreds of penguins waddle in single file from sea to nest and back again. You have to see it to believe it. Seal pups are out, whale numbers are climbing, and the colonies are buzzing with life and noise.
This is the most popular time to go, and for good reason. The energy is electric.
Best for: wildlife activity, long daylight, penguin highways, seal pups
Late Season
February – March
Whale Season & Best Value
🐋 🐬
February and March are when the whales truly take over — and I mean that. The warmer water brings enormous amounts of krill to the surface, drawing humpbacks, minkes, orcas, southern rights, and more in staggering numbers. During my own February trip, I could hardly look out at the horizon without spotting at least one whale — and usually more — at any given moment.
Temperatures range from 27–34°F on average, occasionally dipping lower or reaching near 50°F on sunny days. The penguin chicks are nearly full-grown now and increasingly independent — the colonies have a different, quieter energy than peak season, but the whale watching more than makes up for it.
Late season also tends to offer the best pricing of the entire Antarctic season. If whales are your priority — or your budget needs a little more flexibility — this is the time to go.
Best for: whale watching, value pricing, fewer crowds, mature penguin chicks
