I love to travel! I know people say that, but it's really true. My earliest experience was when I was just a teenager; I flew solo to Australia to meet my mom, who was there for work.  I still remember navigating my way through Atlanta Airport, walking not so confidently from Terminal D to Terminal A because I wasn’t sure if the train would take me to my terminal or keep going downtown!—it was my first taste of independence and adventure.

In Australia, I climbed Ayers Rock on my own. My mom and I experienced a magical sunrise hot air balloon ride over Central Australia. That moment was everything you’d imagine—peaceful and breathtaking—until the wind caught the basket during landing and dragged us several feet. Thankfully, we were on the top half of the basket so no sticks and dirt remained in our hair!  

The highlight that cemented independent travel for me was white-water rafting, something I’d wanted to try for ages. My mom preferred a scenic train ride, so she left me with clear instructions: when the clock says five minutes to 8:00 AM, leave the hotel, turn left, and walk one block to meet the tour bus.   

It was the most fun part of the trip, giving me a passion for trying new things for a lifetime. I decided to major in Hospitality Management with a minor in cruise studies in college 5 years later, working and traveling in the industry.
